[Beauty] BB Bag May 2016

May was the second month I have been getting the BB Bag, and I am thrilled with this monthly subscription bag that comes with 6 full sized Korean beauty products in it. May's theme was Festival Friendly Finds. The bag had six wonderful products and a few I absolutely loved and was very happy to try out and now use regularly in my beauty regimen.

 

Milky Dress SOS Blemish Cream ($9.00) I had never heard of this blemish cream, but I was willing to try it out since I had a blemish on my skin. I put this cream on it when I went to bed, and it did help bring it down. I used it for two nights and the blemish had gone away. This cream worked wonderfully and I have used it a few times since I got my BB Bag and it has continued to impress me.

The Saem Healing Garden Tea Cleansing Tissue ($8.00). I use makeup cleansing tissues regularly and has run out before getting my BB Bag so I was excited to get something that I normally use. I had never tried this brand however. These wipes worked great, they are not as wet as some I have tried, but they felt good on the skin, and there are a lot of them so they will last me for awhile. One thing I love about this bag is that I get products I will use and not just set aside, like these. 

Kinepin Beauty Nail Company Nail Kit ($6.00). I use a lot of nail wraps so products that help me do my nails are always wanted. This kit comes with a variety of tools for doing your nails from the little stick to push down your cuticles to the finger/toe separators, and so on. All are decent quality and will get used so Yay! 

 

Prelab Toning Peeling Tap ($20.00). This was the one item I wasnt quite sure about when I was looking at it. They seem to be a face washing and moisturizer. You wet your face, then squeeze these little tabs and they exfoliate and moisturize the skin, you then rinse off the product and discard the little tab. I have used them a few times and they seem to be good. 

 The Saem Fresh Bamboo Smooth Gel ($15.00) This is a face and body moisturizer. The consistency is like aloe gel to me. It is to help moisturize dry dull skin. I love the cooling effect that the gel has on my skin when I use it, and the packaging is also pretty cool, since it is a giant piece of bamboo. 

Nail Polish ($7.00) I got a light pink nail polish in my set this month. The color is pretty and will get used by either me or my mother in the future, since nail polish (and nail wraps) are worn pretty regularly by myself. 

 

So far I have not been disappointed in the BB Bag, I really like all the item and am super excited for next month (which also had a food beauty theme so of course I am REALLY excited about that.) The bag is $24.99 a month and comes with six full sized products. You can check it out here.

[Geek Makeup Review!] More Ways to Have an Awesome Nerd Manicure!

So I sat looking at the extra on my Espionage Cosmetics Nail Wraps the other day and decided to do something different to use up the extra bits I had left. I decided to try out a somewhat french manicure with the extra bits that I had on the ends of the nail wraps I had originally cut off, and I love the results! 

Over the last few months (since the end of February) I have work four different Espionage Nail Wraps (Literary,Orange and Pink Masks, Pitch Perfect and Nebulae.) I wanted some cute music nails again, so I grabbed the remainder of the Pitch Perfect and my Lavender Probelle Nail Polish I got in my Ipsy Bag this month and went to town! 

Doing the tips did take a lot longer than just putting on the wraps, the challenge was making sure the nail polish was completely dry and wouldn't dent when applying them. I got them on and love the overall look of them, but I also know better for next time to paint my nails and let them dry for at least 30 min. or so before I try to put the tips on. I finished them off with Essie gel nail top coat so there wasn't a gap between the nail wrap and the nail to pull it off (I always use this top coat on my nail wraps anyways since it helps keep them on, in my opinion.)

I definitely will try this out with my other leftovers from my nail wraps (I knew I saved them for a reason!) I would also suggest this to others who want to try out a different look on their nails, who also love the nail wraps and nail polish!

[Geek Girl Makeup Review] Espionage Cosmetics Nail Wraps "Perfect Pitch"

I worked at Regeneration Who last weekend and wanted to let me geek fashion sense shine through, so I decided to pull out the Espionage nail wraps I still had and put on a pair! Since I wore my Nebula ones for Mysticon I only had Music Notes and Sherlock left to choose from, so I chose the music note ones. Not only am I a musician and music teacher but I was also getting to play Ukulele in a concert at the con, so I figured they were fitting (and fit my personality anyways since music is kind of an incredibly large part of my life.....)

I love the packaging of Espionage's nail wraps. Each one has its own design and description inside of the package, they do not just reuse the same design for every different nail wrap. 

The inside of Pitch Perfect had a sheet music print in it (the nebula one had descriptions of each nebula used.) This attention to packaging detail really impressed me, since you don't always see that much dedication to designs in packaging. 

I had never used nail wraps until I did my nails for Mysticon (I generally throw a coat of nail polish on and go about my day.) I was really surprised at how easy these little nail "stickers" were to put on (especially since my nails are not long and I have a hard time keeping them long between just breaking and trimming them to play.)

I really appreciate that there are multiple sizes offered since not everyone's thumbs are the same size! (also with what I have left over I can trim and do some other nail art later!)

And look at how awesome they look! Like seriously my nails are made of music notes right now and that is amazing! I have been wearing them for just over a week and they are still hanging in there strong, I have had to add a top coat on one or two since I was pretty rough on them at Regen, but I foresee these lasting at least two weeks! 

 and that's with me playing on the Uku everyday for a few hours at a time. 

After two weeks of wear, still going strong. The tips are a tiny bit chipped, but its not noticeable at all, and I still love how they look!

[Geek Girl Makeup Review] Espionage Cosmetics Nebulae Nail Wraps

 

 

I have been wanting to try out Espionage Cosmetics nail wraps for a really long time. I don't generally keep my nails long, they are thin and break easy (plus that whole playing Ukulele thing can be rough too.) but I really love all their cute geeky/nerdy designs and wanted to try them out, and let me tell you, I am HOOKED! I ordered during their black Friday sale so the design I am about to review is currently discontinued (and I am kind of sad about that because it looks really cool!) However I have others that are not and will be wearing and reviewing as well! I ordered a total of four designs (one of them was a Christmas gift, however, the blood splatter design.)

 

 

 

To start off I love the way they ship their packages, the envelopes are sturdy the way they are shipped and they will not bend or get messed up, also water proof, which is nice depending on what products you are ordering since Espionage also does eye shadows, bath bombs and lip colors. (All of which I cannot wait to try!)

 

 

 

They also have the cutest sticker on the package!

 

 

The design I decided to wear for the con is called Nebulae, it has a bunch of Nebulas on the nail wraps, and each one is an actual nebula, they even have them listed on the packaging so you know which one you are using! (Orion, Crab, Rosette, Lagoon, and Carina are what each one is based on.)

 

 

 

So nail wraps are super easy, I was worried I would have some problems with them since, not all my nails were long. However they went on and stayed on really well with even my shorter nails. (I did my best to grow them out the weeks leading up to Mysticon, since I really wanted to have them to wear with all my TARDIS dresses I had for the con!)

 

 

 

Basically you take these nail stickers and figure out which fits on your finger (there are a few different sizes, I still had to trim a few to fit my fingers, so don't rule out that option, it is easier to do so before you peal it off the backing though!)

 

 

I put a top coat on my nails before putting the stickers on, but that is optional. I cut the sticker off its backing, placed it on my nail and got it in place, then pealed off the top plastic piece, this made it easier for me to get them in place. You trim the sticker so you have a little extra to stick to the back of your nail, then file the extra off. I was nervous this would be difficult to do, it really was not and now I am excited to try out the other designs I purchased! I finished mine off with Essie's gel setter top coat so they would have a nice shine to them and keep the nail designs on longer.

 

 

These fantastic nail wraps stay on for about two weeks, mine lasted just over a week, but that is with me playing Ukulele and having incredibly thin nails. Which in truth is longer than nail polish stays on my nails! I cannot wait to try out the other ones I have and coordinate some fun makeups with them!

 

 

I have been sick or I would have done a video tutorial on how to wear these, I will do those once I have my voice back form this awful bronchitis I have had! So keep an eye out for a video on how to apply the nail wraps!

[Makeup Review] Island Girl Hawaii Nail Polish

Island Girl Cosmetics is a brand of nail polish, lip gloss, and grooming tools sold through ABC Hawaii stores. If you are not familiar with ABC, they are a line of convince stores in Hawaii (and a few in Las Vegas as well.)

I purchased some of their nail polish years ago on my last trip to Hawaii, but picked up two colors on my trip I just took to Las Vegas.  A pretty glittery purple and a shiny blue color. 

The Nail polishes are 2.99 a piece for 2 for $5 (many of their products had a two for price at the ABC stores.) They come in 0.65 fl. oz. sizes (they also sell multi packs of smaller bottles as well)

I needed a purple nail polish to touch up my nail polish for the character I was acting as for the weekend at Otakon Vegas, and her signature colors are black and purple, so I chose this glittery purple to use! I really liked it, it went on well and took 2 coats to give me a good coverage, I did notice though after about 4 days the glittery nail polish did start to get brittle, which I can understand because it has a bunch of glitter in it! The purple glitter color is 1403A (this one didn't have a cute name)

I chose this lovely blue because it reminded me of TARDIS blue. It is a beautiful blue with a shimmery look to it. The color was M1803 or "Tropical Magic". This one stayed on for longer than four days before it began to chip, it was very smooth going on and didn't have the brittle feeling of the glitter polish (which I am guessing is because of the glitter itself.) 

For the price of this brand, I would recomend trying it out if you see colors you like! I wish I had grabbed one of their cuticle oils to try out since they looked rather pretty and I am always up for trying out new (to me) nail products. Oh well I guess that is somehting to check out next time I am in Hawaii or Vegas! You can see their line of Island Girl products on the ABC webpage here

As with any dark nail polishes I wear, I suggest wearing a clear base coat before putting on dark colors, since they do have a habit to stain your nails, but I say that for any brand of nail polish. 

[Geek Girl Makeup Review] Cover Girl Star Wars Makeup!

So if you are a fan of Star Wars, and a girl who loves makeup, then you may have heard of Cover Girl's new Star Wars makeup line that they have brought out to celebrate the new movies that comes out in Dec. However finding it was a challenge at first, but after two months of looking in stores, the makeup is now showing up! I have so far found it at CVS and Target (and have been told by friends they have also seen it at Walgreens.) The display below is from Target.

The line has Lipsticks, Nail Polish and Mascara. I picked up a few and you can read all about them below!

First, I'll start off with the Mascara, This one comes in two types and has 10 different packages, each with a different Star Wars quote on them! (5 light side quotes and 5 dark side quotes) The two types are Waterproof and then Super Sizer Mascara. The one below is the waterproof mascara (they all have the Light Side quotes while the Super Size has the Dark Side quotes.)

Lipsticks, there are six different colors, each with Star Wars packaging, the colors do not have fun names, but numbers to distinguish their colors. ( was only able to get four of the six colors they have out.) They have really great coverage and average between 5-7$ depending on where you buy them at.

The lipsticks go on very smooth and have great coverage, they also last for hours, you do have to reapply every once in awhile, but The color went on and stayed on when I wore color 50 at an anime con I was last at! The packing is also very fun!

Nail Polish, there are also six shades of nail polish (much like the lipsticks) the nail polish however do have fun names that go along with each one! I was able to get Speed of Light which is a grey color and Mutant, which is a blue color. There is also Red Revenge (Deep Red), Fury (Orange), Nemesis (Purple), and Nuclear (Lime Green). Each color is supposed to be a gel like shine that last up to seven days and has a chip proof formula.

                       

The nail polish has great coverage and you do not have to do more than two coats to get great coverage, it stayed on for many days before chipping as well (and I am rough on my hands between computer, playing Ukulele and other activities!) And the colors are really fun (from normal business/work acceptable colors to "crazy" colors)

Overall I am very happy with all these different makeups that CoverGirl has put out. It is really fun for a company to be catering to the female fans of a science fiction franchise. The makeup is good quality for an inexpensive brand that is sold in drugstores. I really hope they decide to jump on the boat for other Geeky brands or even other companies follow in their footsteps!
